Any SQL query that returns a value that itself looks like a valid SQL query will be converted into a link to execute that SQL query when it is displayed in the Datasette interface. These links will only show for valid SQL query - if a SQL query would return an error it will not be turned into a link. ## Demo * [Here's an example query](https://latest-with-plugins.datasette.io/fixtures?sql=select%0D%0A++%27select+*+from+%5Bfacetable%5D%27+as+query%0D%0Aunion%0D%0Aselect%0D%0A++%27select+sqlite_version()%27%0D%0Aunion%0D%0Aselect%0D%0A++%27select+this+is+invalid+SQL+so+will+not+be+linked%27) showing the plugin in action. ## Development To set up this plugin locally, first checkout the code. Then create a new virtual environment: cd datasette-query-links python3 -mvenv venv source venv/bin/activate Or if you are using `pipenv`: pipenv shell Now install the dependencies and test dependencies: pip install -e '.[test]' To run the tests: pytest <div id="readme" class="md" data-path="README.md"><article class="markdown-body entry-content container-lg" itemprop="text"><h1><a id="user-content-datasette-query-links" class="anchor" aria-hidden="true" href="#user-content-datasette-query-links"><svg class="octicon octicon-link" viewBox="0 0 16 16" version="1.1" width="16" height="16" aria-hidden="true"><path fill-rule="evenodd" d="M7.775 3.275a.75.75 0 001.06 1.06l1.25-1.25a2 2 0 112.83 2.83l-2.5 2.5a2 2 0 01-2.83 0 .75.75 0 00-1.06 1.06 3.5 3.5 0 004.95 0l2.5-2.5a3.5 3.5 0 00-4.95-4.95l-1.25 1.25zm-4.69 9.64a2 2 0 010-2.83l2.5-2.5a2 2 0 012.83 0 .75.75 0 001.06-1.06 3.5 3.5 0 00-4.95 0l-2.5 2.5a3.5 3.5 0 004.95 4.95l1.25-1.25a.75.75 0 00-1.06-1.06l-1.25 1.25a2 2 0 01-2.83 0z"></path></svg></a>datasette-query-links</h1> <p><a href="https://pypi.org/project/datasette-query-links/" rel="nofollow"><img src="https://camo.githubusercontent.com/3ab4d04fcda27408dfd62a12ac76681be62dfafccd5c0fffb3837512e08a60fb/68747470733a2f2f696d672e736869656c64732e696f2f707970692f762f6461746173657474652d71756572792d6c696e6b732e737667" alt="PyPI" data-canonical-src="https://img.shields.io/pypi/v/datasette-query-links.svg" style="max-width:100%;"></a> <a href="https://github.com/simonw/datasette-query-links/releases"><img src="https://camo.githubusercontent.com/2889989730367edad93f0dd54b21beb27e4f8f5b68ae195dec3a4751353b5949/68747470733a2f2f696d672e736869656c64732e696f2f6769746875622f762f72656c656173652f73696d6f6e772f6461746173657474652d71756572792d6c696e6b733f696e636c7564655f70726572656c6561736573266c6162656c3d6368616e67656c6f67" alt="Changelog" data-canonical-src="https://img.shields.io/github/v/release/simonw/datasette-query-links?include_prereleases&amp;label=changelog" style="max-width:100%;"></a> <a href="https://github.com/simonw/datasette-query-links/actions?query=workflow%3ATest"><img src="https://github.com/simonw/datasette-query-links/workflows/Test/badge.svg" alt="Tests" style="max-width:100%;"></a> <a href="https://github.com/simonw/datasette-query-links/blob/main/LICENSE"><img src="https://camo.githubusercontent.com/1698104e976c681143eb0841f9675c6f802bb7aa832afc0c7a4e719b1f3cf955/68747470733a2f2f696d672e736869656c64732e696f2f62616467652f6c6963656e73652d417061636865253230322e302d626c75652e737667" alt="License" data-canonical-src="https://img.shields.io/badge/license-Apache%202.0-blue.svg" style="max-width:100%;"></a></p> <p>Turn SELECT queries returned by a query into links to execute them</p> <h2><a id="user-content-installation" class="anchor" aria-hidden="true" href="#user-content-installation"><svg class="octicon octicon-link" viewBox="0 0 16 16" version="1.1" width="16" height="16" aria-hidden="true"><path fill-rule="evenodd" d="M7.775 3.275a.75.75 0 001.06 1.06l1.25-1.25a2 2 0 112.83 2.83l-2.5 2.5a2 2 0 01-2.83 0 .75.75 0 00-1.06 1.06 3.5 3.5 0 004.95 0l2.5-2.5a3.5 3.5 0 00-4.95-4.95l-1.25 1.25zm-4.69 9.64a2 2 0 010-2.83l2.5-2.5a2 2 0 012.83 0 .75.75 0 001.06-1.06 3.5 3.5 0 00-4.95 0l-2.5 2.5a3.5 3.5 0 004.95 4.95l1.25-1.25a.75.75 0 00-1.06-1.06l-1.25 1.25a2 2 0 01-2.83 0z"></path></svg></a>Installation</h2> <p>Install this plugin in the same environment as Datasette.</p> <div class="snippet-clipboard-content position-relative" data-snippet-clipboard-copy-content="$ datasette install datasette-query-links "><pre><code>$ datasette install datasette-query-links </code></pre></div> <h2><a id="user-content-usage" class="anchor" aria-hidden="true" href="#user-content-usage"><svg class="octicon octicon-link" viewBox="0 0 16 16" version="1.1" width="16" height="16" aria-hidden="true"><path fill-rule="evenodd" d="M7.775 3.275a.75.75 0 001.06 1.06l1.25-1.25a2 2 0 112.83 2.83l-2.5 2.5a2 2 0 01-2.83 0 .75.75 0 00-1.06 1.06 3.5 3.5 0 004.95 0l2.5-2.5a3.5 3.5 0 00-4.95-4.95l-1.25 1.25zm-4.69 9.64a2 2 0 010-2.83l2.5-2.5a2 2 0 012.83 0 .75.75 0 001.06-1.06 3.5 3.5 0 00-4.95 0l-2.5 2.5a3.5 3.5 0 004.95 4.95l1.25-1.25a.75.75 0 00-1.06-1.06l-1.25 1.25a2 2 0 01-2.83 0z"></path></svg></a>Usage</h2> <p>This is an experimental plugin, requiring Datasette 0.59a1 or higher.</p> <p>Any SQL query that returns a value that itself looks like a valid SQL query will be converted into a link to execute that SQL query when it is displayed in the Datasette interface.</p> <p>These links will only show for valid SQL query -
